This year on the 07 June, 40 Year 5 and 6 students and 10 teachers took part in the gruelling trek on the outskirts os Brisbane in the Kokoda Challenge. Each team consisted of 4 students and 1 teacher who had been training on weekends and outside school under the supervision and guidance of teachers and support staff, in preparation for the rugged 18km jaunt.

The Kokoda Challenge embodies the Spirit of Kokoda through Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice and each student who participates is shown how these core values are still very relevant today.
Each team entering the Challenge is required to fundraise $250 to go towards the Kokoda Youth Foundation, an Australian charity who run a range of youth programs to support local youth and our teams are well on their way to reaching their fundraising targets.
We are extremely proud to say that Benowa State School raised over $10,000 this year.
The Willy Wagtails taking out the top fundraising position raising $1,872 to date.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored our teams and were a part of this amazing experience.
