EcoMarines Ambassador Program Benowa

The EcoMarines Ambassadors program is an exciting initiative that empowers our students to become environmental leaders, with a special focus on protecting our oceans and marine life. Our Eco Marine Ambassadors work together to raise awareness about marine conservation, sustainability and the importance of protecting our beautiful coastal environments. Through fun and educational activities, they will:

  • Promote awareness about the impact of plastic waste and pollution on marine life.

  • Organise sustainability events and other local environmental initiatives.

  • Learn about marine biodiversity and the species that rely on healthy oceans for survival.

  • Create presentations and projects to share their knowledge and inspire others to take action for the planet.

As an EcoMarine Ambassador, students represent our school and join a wider network of EcoMarines across Queensland. Throughout the school year, the EcoMarines Foundation host networking and education events, such as:

  • Training Day event for Ambassadors to network, hear from industry experts and participate in environmental workshops hosted at a special environmental location

  • Community events for EcoMarines friends and family

  • End-of-year celebration event to highlight the amazing work that our Ambassadors and teachers have accomplished.

We believe that by giving our students the tools and knowledge to become stewards of the ocean, they will grow into responsible, environmentally conscious citizens. This program provides hands-on learning and encourages students to make a difference, not just in their school, but in the wider world.

The EcoMarine Ambassadors meet regularly, and we look forward to seeing the incredible impact they will have in our community and beyond. We encourage all students to get involved, share their ideas, and take part in upcoming projects and activities.

Benowa State School EcoMarine Ambassadors

EcoMarines in our School Community

This year, our dedicated Eco Marine Ambassadors have continued to make a positive impact on our school and environment through their commitment, teamwork, and environmental leadership. Throughout the year, they have maintained our compost system and cared for the worm farm, helping to reduce food waste and create nutrient-rich soil for our gardens. They have also taken on a mentoring role, teaching younger students how to compost properly and care for our school's green spaces.

The Ambassadors have nurtured our beautiful new butterfly garden, creating a vibrant habitat that supports local pollinators and adds colour to our school grounds. They have also investigated ways to save water within our school, successfully rallying for new water stations to help reduce wastage and encourage sustainable water use.

At our school market stall, the team proudly picked and sold produce from our gardens, promoting the importance of growing and sharing fresh, healthy food. Their hard work and passion for sustainability have not only made our school a greener place but have also inspired others to take action for our environment.
