Koala Joeys Playgroup starts Wednesday 31 January
from 9am - 10:30am here at school, come and joing the fun!

Koala Joeys Playgroup is for children aged 0 – 5 years. We deliver facilitated playgroup sessions each week, designed with parent and child interactions as the key focus. We provide a range of organised activities based on the Early Years Learning Framework for babies, toddlers and pre-prep aged children.

Koala Joeys children have the opportunity to:

Gain self esteem
Develop improved language, literacy and numeracy skills
Develop good listening skills
Develop social skills appropriate for kindy, prep and big school
Have fun interacting with other children and adults
Enhance and extend their vocabulary development
Develop a community of friends

Koala Joeys parents and carers have the opportunity to:

Improve and enrich their interaction with their children by sharing rhymes, songs, stories and activities
Improve their knowledge of early brain development, social and emotional development, and early literacy and numeracy skills
Gain parenting skills in a fun, interactive and supportive environment
Develop a repertoire of rhymes, songs, stories and activities to share with their family creating a family heritage
Experience reduced social isolation
Develop a network of friends
Become an active member of a supportive and caring community
Build strong relationships with a local school community

We use, and promote, the 3a Abecedarian Strategies when engaging with children to promote language development, and to build and maintain quality adult nteractions with children.

Play Steps playgroups such as Koala Joeys, are places for children and their families to practise learning skills in a nurturing, safe space within a school environment. Activities within the Play Steps program are designed to help children develop these skills and become independent and active learners. Koala Joeys incorporates the following pathways into every day play.
