Benowa State School is host to the Benowa Early
Childhood Development Program (ECDP). Our education programs and services
support children from birth to pre-prep age who have been identified with high
support needs in one or more of the following areas:
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Intellectual disability
- Physical impairment
- Speech language impairment
- Vision impairment
- Hearing impairment
Benowa ECDP is an Education Queensland facility that
provides support to families in identifying areas of strength and needs of your
child. We offer a range of education services and programs that aim to enhance
your child’s development, well-being and community participation.
Our children are provided with high-quality early
childhood intervention education programs that are run by a qualified
specialist teacher and supported by Education Queensland therapists who have a
wide breadth of experience with young children with disabilities and
developmental delay.
Children who access the ECDP will have an individualized
program or service plan developed. This plan is called an Individual
Education Plan (IEP) and outlines the teaching focus and support that is
provided for your child.
We develop a close working relationship with our
families to ensure we meet children’s individual needs and support families in
taking the lead in making decisions for their child and their family. We also
work together with families and future schools to ensure a smooth transition
for your child into full time education programs for their prep year.
The staff of Benowa ECDP extend a warm invitation to
you and your family. Please feel free to
contact the Head of Student Support Services at Benowa State School for further
information regarding the suitability of the program for your child.
