Volunteering at Benowa State School is a fantastic way to develop new skills, meet new people and gain unique experiences. Volunteers at school assist staff in a range of areas and provide significant support to students, contributing to their overall educational achievement.

Volunteers are always welcome to help with:

  • tuckshop
  • negotiated areas of support in the classroom
  • excursions, if requested by staff
  • school events
  • assisting our P&C
  • working in the Food Forest

Becoming a volunteer at our school creates valued and reciprocal partnerships by engaging students, parents, carers and the broader community in supporting student learning and activities.

To become a part of our school as a volunteer, please contact our Reception staff on 5510 4333 or get in touch with our P&C via email pandc@benowass.eq.edu.au

To ensure the safety of our students and to comply with student protection and Work Health and Safety legislation, there are some requirements that need to be addressed prior to volunteering with us.

Blue Cards

The blue card is a system for monitoring a person's suitability for working with children and contributes to the creation of safe service environments for children. While the blue card system does not apply to every environment in which a child may be present, volunteers at schools must hold a blue card before starting, unless they are parents of a child at the school.

Volunteer Requirements

It is now a requirement by law that all volunteers, including parents, partake in student protection training under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000. The mandatory training is provided online and can be accessed via the Mandatory All Staff Training (MAST) guide which can be downloaded here.  Follow the processes to complete each section.

Once you have completed the training and are able to volunteer, you will need to sign in at Reception prior to each visit, to obtain your identification sticker which is to be worn while you are at school.
