  1. Junior choir - consisting of Year 3 students.
  2. Intermediate choir – consisting of Year 4 students.
  3. Senior choir - consisting of Year 5, 6 and 7 students.

Instrumental music

Instrumental music teachers provide tuition in strings, brass, woodwind and percussion. The school can provide, for a hire fee, some instruments for the first year to children taking part in the course. Parents who take advantage of this service are asked to ensure that children practice regularly.

Approximately 160 students from year’s three to six are selected to learn a string, woodwind or brass instrument. Lessons are conducted by three visiting instrumental music teachers. Students attend a half hour (small group) lesson once per week.

Students are then chosen to be members of one of five Benowa State School instrumental ensembles which rehearse twice per week. All ensembles perform publicly throughout the school year.
