International students

Benowa State School welcomes students from overseas destinations. Our school community values the cultural heritage of other nations and is very interested in developing global networks of friendship and education.

At Benowa State School we currently employ an English as a Second Language (EAL/D) teacher for five days a week.

The EAL/D program in Queensland state schools provides English language support to students from language backgrounds other than English. The program aims to develop these students' language skills to enable them to participate fully in mainstream classrooms and to enhance their learning outcomes.

If you are from overseas, in order to enrol your child into Benowa State School you will need to provide the following evidence to the enrolment officer:

  • Current passport with entry date stamp for the child.
  • Current visa.

The subclass on the visa will determine whether Education Queensland International will charge a fee for the child to be at school in Queensland. Our enrolment officer will be able to assist in identifying this subclass number and options on the visa.
